#34 – Reading and Writing Club Meeting: Discovering Yourself: Finding Emotional Outlets

Everyone experiences emotional ups and downs—joy and sadness, calm and frustration. Emotions themselves are neither right nor wrong. Learning how to understand them, accept them, and find healthy outlets is an essential part of growing up.

– Recognize personal emotional patterns and triggers
– Understand the needs and meanings behind emotions
– Learn and reflect on healthy ways to regulate emotions

Questions List

– When do you usually experience negative emotions?
– How do you usually cope with negative emotions (writing, drawing, reading, music, spending time alone, or sleeping)?
– What other methods do you think could release emotions?
– In the books you’ve read, are there characters who are good or not good at handling negative emotions? What choices did they make when facing difficult emotions? What consequences were there? 
– Are there approaches you think are worth learning from? Will you try new ways to manage your emotions?
