Curiosity and Inspiration

June 7, 2026

As I prepare for the 2026 McGill University Biology Summer Camp, I am especially excited about the opportunity to learn from both McGill University professors and a student mentor who will soon begin her studies at Harvard University.

What impressed me most was not just her academic achievement, but her passion for science and her willingness to share her knowledge with others, as over the past three years, she has been actively involved in scientific research and has developed a genuine enthusiasm for discovery. Listening to her speak reminded me that science is not just about experiments and data; it is also about curiosity, persistence, and the desire to contribute to something larger than yourself.

Her story made me reflect on a quote from Judy Robinett’s book How to Be a Power Connector: “Every new connection can radically change your world.” I think this applies as meeting people who are passionate about what they do can inspire us to think differently, aim higher, and explore new possibilities.

Although I am not yet able to share the theme of this year’s camp, I am eagerly looking forward to my second science summer camp experience. Beyond learning new scientific concepts and laboratory techniques, I hope to learn from the experiences of my mentors, ask questions, and gain a deeper understanding of the research process.
